THE LAST HARVEST
NATIONAL YOUTH THEATRE, BRITAIN
Forged for a post-pandemic world, The Last Harvest erupts across a brand-new earth amphitheatre in Shropshire, leading audiences on a fire-lit, dystopian journey that hurtles from the future back to the present.
Created with fourteen young artists from the National Youth Theatre, this immersive experience fuses performance, projection, protest, spectacle and sound, carrying audiences across a kilometre of working farmland.
Developed in collaboration with farmer Tim Ashton, the piece draws on his radical re-imagining of sustainable farming and issues a stark warning of what the UK could face if we fail to urgently rethink our relationship with the land.
The Last Harvest is the latest chapter of MELT, a three-year environmental epic responding to the climate crisis, and forms part of Signal Fires, the nationwide project uniting leading touring companies to share urgent stories by firelight.
